maybe they found a way to simulate a mmo server using their technologies that they tweaked or whatever. and look at the subtitle, Utopia, meaning imaginary and Guild Wars:Utopia will give us a completely new experience. see, guildwars' 3 chapters was all about there was somethin evil threatening a race and the heroes will come along and save the day. so maybe chapter 4 will let us use our characters and zone to a map somewhere wherein there's a large scale interaction. i know im wrong but hey it can happen.
this is a rumor mongering thread anyway.

Personally, I think things like fishing would be kind of cool. Its always neat to have more things to do. However, since many people seem to dislike doing these "life skills" type things, I guess they should probably be optional.

"Life skills" crap really has no place in an action RPG like GW. Fortunately I'm pretty confidant that Anet knows that. People that want to turn this game into WoW should really go play WoW and leave the rest of us with the superior game, thanks.

Now that we got that through, I remember on the release of NF there was an artical stating to look out for clues about the next chapter. Anyone found any clues? I think its going to be at the Mursaat home land or Deldrimor.
And I hope the theme this time is either Norse or Aztec/Mayan.
|
Sorry if this has been mentioned before but in the time line in the NF manual it does say "Cantha begins trading with Tyria, Elona and the northern areas." Because of this I like the idea that the next chapter will involve the Mursaat at their homeland of Janthir, north of the Maguuma Jungle.

If this is true, I'm kind of bummed out that Ch4 won't have a snowy/wintery feel to it (presumably).
I admittedly know very little about Greek environments...but wouldn't it be somewhat similar to the top-right part of the NF map, like iwth the gardens and such?

I think they are finally going to show us what happened to Gwen.
If they really said we should look for clues about the next chapter, thats it.
For those who went to Barbadous Shore cant possibly forget about that Preserved Red Iris Flower, reminding us about that old pre-searing quest wich you have to get one in order to Gwen follow you.
Here is the link to these itens.

Haha I jest (sort of), I never really know whether or not I'll buy a GW chapter but I think the name Utopia is kind of blourgh. Although a few days ago I did guess Chapter 4 could have a setting of Downtown New York; we can only hope that is the case.

Just like in any industry a product is rarely released with the name it was given during the development process.

Not that this is true but its from Guild Wiki and that's a very good Guild Wars source, but here:
Galie Gray has hinted at the fact that campaign four may take place on a frigid continent.
North of Kryta and Shiverpeaks lays Deldrimor, land of the dwarves; the only FRIGID continent.
It hasn't been confirmed, but it is very likley we will see that the Guild Wars: Chapter 4 is on Deldrimor. Also if you go on GuildWiki and type in nations, Deldrimor is the only other nation that we haven't been to that is listed. I think Chapter 4 is on Deldrimor. =D No more Orr theories for me. Orr is dead. Maybe.

Did you read the one update where they were talking about crafting / time wasting type skills being introduced into the game. I think they called them Life Skills or something like that.
Fishing, Cooking...stuff like that.
I like GW very much. Just hit KoBD the other night on my Warrior. But, i'll be the first to admit, if they don't do something within the next few chapters that will change how GW is played PvE-wise AT LEAST...they'll lose many customers.

Hm. This is starting to sound more and more like an Ultima Online clone. Fishing? PK areas? Not So Fun Events? I saw Ultima's decline into obscurity. and I hope the 4th Chapter isn't the decline of GW.

That wasn't an update, that was an interview from a foreign language place which may or may not have meant crafting skills. Some people think it was referring to the titles that actually do things now.

this game would make its way to my all-time favorite game if it had fishing. I would never stop fishing in Guild Wars even if it was wasted time, fishing would BE AWSOME!!!!

As for the setting, i think they should leave the current proffessions etc as is. What i mean by that is, every chapter they have to add core proff skills + faction/NF skillz and new proffession skills. Its time they gave our characters a rest and start anew. Maybe do a new GW set in a different timeline, maybe when Orr still wasn't destroyed, maybe the time of guild wars... or even a hundred years into the future from now. If they want to do it at current timeline, maybe (yah, too many maybe's) set it far North, away from current continent so they we not affected by Nightfall as tyria and cantha were. If the majority of the community still want to be able to play with old characters, let's build a time machine and get "timeported" to teh Guild Wars era :P I do agree with some of the above comments though. They really need to do something different this time or some of the older players will just lose interest in the long run. 2007 seems like a tough year for MMO's with vanguard, warhammer online, aion, 2moons (which is completely free), so ANet has to give us something extra to make us stay while keeping people away from those games.
I have a tendency to keep on typing once i start. Pretty sure most of you will go TL;DR

I think they should add life skills.. it's one of the few things that would keep me interested in the game. And don't say I should play WoW if I wanted to do that. I like Guild Wars.. I like the lore, I like the look... adding life skills would only imporve in that it would keep people who get bored easily more entertained between the chapters. Guild Wars Chapter 4 would have to add something to that effect or I think it will lose a lot of players who would claim "More of the same."
Right now I'm waiting to hear information about chapter 4, deciding on going to WoW with the new expansion, beta testing Vanguard, and playing around with City of Heroes... as it stands right now I could go in any direction.. just trying things out.
Plus there is already food in guild wars from the different chiefs so us being able to craft (cook) is possible. Plus it would make use of a lot of the worthless crap we get from enemies like the roots and so forth as most only have one collector.
